The Spanish Past Perfect tense (also called pluperfect) is used to speak about something that happened in the past, that took place before another event.
imperfect of "haber" + past participle of verb
Habia visitado ya a mi mama. | I had already visited my mother. |

You will notice that all uses of the past perfect use the verb haber
.
Remember: these verb charts are only a tool to use while one is learning the language. In other words, one must eventually forget the verb chart and it must become second nature.
