The Spanish past anterior tense (also called pret茅rito anterior) is rarely used in modern Spanish. It has been replaces by the past perfect tense. The past anterior tense was used to describe an event or action that took place right before something else.
past anterior of "haber" + past participle of verb
| Habimos confrontado el enemigo. | We had already confronted the enemy. |

You will notice that all uses of the past anterior use the verb haber.
Remember: these verb charts are only a tool to use while one is learning the language. In other words, one must eventually forget the verb chart and it must become second nature.
